The West Port has a load capacity of 10 tonnes/m2 on the westernmost 60 metres of the quay. The remaining metres have a load capacity of 5 tonnes/m2. So, it is no problem if very heavy units need to be lifted – e.g. nacelles.
The North Port’s industrial docks have a load capacity of approx. 1.5 tonnes/m2. In August 2011, after performing calculations, lifting of a 182-tonne machine was approved. This went well. A crane with an estimated load per support leg of 15 tonnes was used.
Contact the Port of Hvide Sande in case of doubt. We are always willing to help calculate load capacity and refer you to areas of the docks that can handle large loads.
The water depth at the entrance and at the west quay is 7.0 m. At the industrial quay, the water depth is 5.0 metres. Questions regarding sailing conditions, as well as water depths around the various port sections, can be directed to the port attendant in Hvide Sande at tel. +45 97 31 16 33.
It is possible to increase the water depth at the new West Port to 8 metres if future ship traffic provides the commercial justification for this.
The Port of Hvide Sande has long wanted to realise its plans for a warehouse for bulk goods. On 01-12-2020, construction of a 2000m2 warehouse intended for bulk goods began. The image is a visualisation of the hall, which is scheduled for completion by May 2021.
The storage area at Vesthavnen, which is an enclosed ISPS area, is approx. 22,000 m2. The west quay and the quay street are 210 metres long and 35 metres wide. This means more than 7000 m2 of paved surface. Outside the enclosed ISPS area, the Port of Hvide Sande owns large areas that can quickly be converted into extra storage space if the need arises.
